Are you still planning to have AFLA 2020?
Yes, the meeting will take place October 5-7, as scheduled, but has moved to a virtual conference experience.

Is AFLA 2020 considering streaming any of its sessions?
Yes, we have moved to a strictly virtual format for all sessions and events.

Can speakers present via video options, such as Skype?
Yes. Confirmed speakers will be contacted with information on how to present their sessions in the new virtual format.

Will I receive a refund if I don't want to participate in the new virtual conference?

All current registrants will receive an automatic adjustment to any registration fees currently paid for the prior in-person rate once the new virtual registration rates are finalized. For regular cancellations, the standard  AFLA cancellation policy applies. Requests for refunds (less a $50 processing fee) will be accepted until September 14, 2020.

Policy Exceptions

Exceptions to the AFLA cancellation policy will be made for attendees who are not able to attend AFLA 2020 due to a documented medical reason accompanied by a doctor’s note, country travel ban, government-restricted travel, or airline restrictions. All cancellation requests for any of these reasons require documentation and approval of the AFLA Executive Director.  Individuals who receive an approved exemption to the AFLA cancellation policy will receive a full refund of the paid registration rate minus a $50 administrative fee.

I am unable to attend. Can I transfer my registration to a colleague?

Yes, AFLA registrations can be transferred by emailing the office at info@afla.org.

What changes will there be to the format of the meeting?

Sessions and content for each day have been focused into "core hours" between 10am CT - 3:30pm CT, with the updated schedule page being the best place to watch for updates as sessions and speakers are confirmed. Sessions will be broken up with breaks, group discussion break-outs, time to connect with sponsors in the dedicated sponsor hall and more.

What if I only want to participate in certain parts of the event?

While we hope to fill the schedule with sessions you "just can't miss" we understand that other priorities may call upon your time. You can log out and rejoin the sessions at any point in time. AFLA registration is "all in one" for the conference, so discounts are not provided for those unable to participate in certain sessions.

How can I maximize my networking experience at the virtual event?

We will have dedicated time, breakouts and more to encourage networking in the virtual meeting environment. While the specifics are being ironed out, key things to bear in mind to enhance your experience will include ensuring your profile is up to date, being open to connect with other attendees via video chats, joining in on the chat discussions during sessions and in member lounge areas of the virtual platform and more. More tips and tricks will be shared as the event draws closer to help you make the most of this crucial part of your AFLA experience.
